Our Witness in a Multi-faith World

Hi Soil. A recent document/declaration has been published after a 5 year process of dialogue between the World Council of Churches, the World Evangelical Alliance and the Catholic Church.  This gives…Continue

The Barn Perspective

Yesterday our pastor challenged us to have a "barn perspective" in relation to our possessions and giving. Many of us operate with a "bag perspective".  We treat our possessions as our private reserve, like a bag of seed with a hole in it. We are always seeking to fill our bag to get ahead, and yet we struggle to find enough as our seed spills out here and there. There is never enough to…See More

I'll Say Yes Lord

Saying yes when the Lord calls is the first and most important response we need to learn as we walk the Jesus road. When Jesus told Zacchaeus to come down and welcome him to be a guest in his house, Zach didn't hesitate, he came down and from that moment everything changed (Lk 19). When Jesus' Spirit…

The Earth Split Open!

"Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tabernacle and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the ram's horn, and all the people proclaimed, "Long live King Solomon!"

All the people followed him, playing flutes and rejoicing with such a great joy that the earth split open from the sound." 1 Kings 1:39-40

  I try to imagine the…

".....concerning......"

Jesus promised that it was to our advantage that he return to his father because by going away he would send us the Spirit, the Helper. Jesus said, "When he comes he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgement." (John 16:8)

My question this morning in light of all the heartache our world faces because of terror, hatred, injustice,…

Faith, Interfaith, Advocacy and the New Year

Hi SOIL. It has been a long time since I have posted an article. Mostly because 2014 was insanely full. It was a highly productive year, and also a very costly year for many reasons.  I am sure you are like me and take time to reflect on the passing year as you face a new one. This is a holy and helpful exorcize because it is humbling and sobering and also gives room for…

I Peter is full of practical application of how to live as aliens and strangers following Christ's example.  Peter really got it - Peterson's intro to I Peter in The Message is well worth the read.

Hi John - thanks for the note and the reminder! The semester got into full swing (taking research methods for the program, plus a design class for work) and I'm preparing for my final semester, so my brain has been in "school mode." I definitely hope to take some time to write soon. If you have time and opportunity, I would appreciate prayer for that as there are a lot of "ends" that need to be tied.

Love to you all. I will definitely be praying for you! Tami

I couldn't feet everything in one so there is the end

On the 15th I'm going to Belgium to visit my family for 3 weeks. They are moving and need to be out of the old house by the 20th of november, so I'm going there to help them with that. But most of all to spend time with them as this year is the first year where i wont be with them for Christmas. I have felt that the Lord has something for me different this year for that season but I'm still not sure what or where God wants me to bee. I'm still praying and open to whatever the lord as for me.

I miss you all very much!!
Blessings to you all!!

hello, all is going very good for me I'm doing great.
A few weeks ago was the and of our 40 days dispelling school, which was great we seen so many things that God did in the life of the students. It was a new experience for me because they took my in as staff (well junior staff=staff in the making) it was challenging for me but i learned a lot through it. ( taking responsibility and bee confident when talking to the students. Where my biggest challenges but it went very well ). We are now planning the next school a 4 month discipleship school starting in march 2011.
I'm very exited that I'm also going to be able in this next season to start university! I had left for Bristol just after finishing Hight school and then from there to discipleship school in Cyprus and the from then right here in Geneva. So i had not had the opportunity to start any kind of further studies. I had faithfully left that in the hands of God and it seems like now is the time where He is opening doors for it. So right now I'm planing on taking some german classes ones or twice a week to start and from there see how God is leading me. My desire is to study translation and interpretation in French, English and German, the Geneva university is one of the best in europe for that. But to enter my level in those three languages needs to be very good, so that's where I'm going to start; lear german as well as perfect my french and my english, I'm even open if God opens the door for it to learn a 4th languages. it's very exiting to me I'm not sure how it's all going to unfold but I'm trusting the Lord and I know He as it planed out, so I'm going at it step by step.

I have been journeying with John in his engagement in fulfilling the SOIL commitment. This led me to look back at the site and notice that it has been inactive for quite some time. I assume we have all been engaged in the current calling God has placed before each one of us. For the past four years Linda and I have been engaged in starting a shelter for runaway/homeless youth in crisis: https://www.yeshelter.org/with a couple of forays to Kenya and…See More

Song: End of my journey

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwSzJcBogkU&feature=youtube_gdata_playerLoved this song, gives the example of what the cross and message of Christs life. Total surrender to ego, to be resurected to live in and from spirit. Following and surrendering to Christ. To be who we are and what we have come at this time in life to do on the earth. Only through the holy spirit can that be revealed.See More
