Dangerous Freedom

Sarah mentioned a quote that really impacted her, she wrote:

"...speaking on Freedom in Christ on Sunday (Gal 5) and just found quote " I prefer dangerous freedom to peaceful slavery" (Thomas Jefferson),  sometimes this sums up true Christian living.

Let us live in dangerous freedom rather than play it safe and be trapped in our prisons of mediocrity, comfort and keeping a safe distance. What have we got to lose? Nothing worth keeping or will ultimately last.

What have we got to gain? Everything that matters and will last for eternity!

I've just been reading a bok called 'for what it's worth' by a guy called Simon Guillebaud I think he's a missionary in Brundi it's along the same lines as this discussion.

The last chapter was about total surrender and it's made me think if we really believe that god is all powerfull and that his will is best then the best place for me to be fully at his mercy and to relinquish all control to him.

Therefore I should activily look for opportunities to live by faith rather than material means. which seems just reckless and where is wisdom in this?

Powerful words. Reminds me of a poem I wrote years ago:

Place on the horizon where the sun meets the sea,
You are the peace of one soul's longing

I think Simon Guillebaud was speaking at the Bristol Region Church leaders thingy in March. I listened to his talk "Radical Living" just after I spoke at Ebe on this, would have been good to listen before I spoke!! He covered so much more than I did and from personal experience!! The big thing for me now is what does this look like in MY life as opposed to his life, the life of someone living in other circumstances or even next door, what is God asking of me today, now?
