Micah 6:6-8
6
With what shall I come to the LORD
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings,
With yearling calves?

7Does the LORD take delight in thousands of rams,
In ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I present my firstborn for my rebellious acts,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?

It is so simple and yet so challenging. How are we doing justice, loving kindness and walking humbly with our God today? I am praying for you!

Good words Tami. It is a constant struggle we have to lay down these personal grievances in order to embrace the bigger plan and particpation God has for us in discipleship. I try to ask myself, "Does God really want what is best for me?" I believe yes, and therefore he will take care of those things in his time and way which frees me to carry on in the right direction. It is all about dying to self. Ouch. I have so far to go. Love to you sister.

Hi John, Micah 6:8 is one of my "verses" for the year. Micah 6:6-8 was also in a devotional I read a few days ago. As I meditated I realized how God really wants relationship with us, more than our "things" or just our mental assent to a set of ideas or dogmas. As we do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him, and as we obey His word, we grow into deeper relationship with Him. For me specifically, I am trying to walk in obedience in the area of taking life's small irritations to Him. Sometimes those irritations get in the way of relationships (with God and others) so the more I give them over to Him (instead of hanging on to them), the more I am able to press forward into more meaningful matters.

I have been journeying with John in his engagement in fulfilling the SOIL commitment. This led me to look back at the site and notice that it has been inactive for quite some time. I assume we have all been engaged in the current calling God has placed before each one of us. For the past four years Linda and I have been engaged in starting a shelter for runaway/homeless youth in crisis: https://www.yeshelter.org/with a couple of forays to Kenya and…See More

"Holiness often isn't thought of in that way these days but that is so true. In what ways am I living a life that is different from the general way of the world, a life that is separated from the 'normal' way of living?"
