Jesus followers committed to living holistically
I was reminded again last week how important it is to respond to the nudge of the Holy Spirit. I was flying back from Orlando and I knew I was supposed to talk to the woman sitting next to me. Even though
it was late, I was exhausted and had long flights ahead of me, I obeyed.
Monica had left the Catholic church for lots of reasons. She had just come from a conference that left her feeling confused and less than excited about her work
in patient care performance at the hospital she worked. I shared about Jesus -
the wounded healer - with her and it really spoke to her heart as someone in
the healing profession.
Here is what Monica wrote me two days later:
"Hi John – What a nice surprise to hear from you so soon! Thank you for the follow-up. It was a joy for me also to
end up in 17B last night next to you – it was meant to be! Your gentle
and kind way not only opened me up to speak with you, but also opened my mind
to reflect on my work and my spirituality. I look forward to viewing the
links you sent and to reading the book. Thank you for reaching out and
responding to that nudge you felt last night. I consider our conversation
and meeting a gift. Best wishes for your continued ministry to all you
serve. I am glad to have been one of them. Perhaps we can stay in
touch.
Take care, Monica"
Take the risk. Don't miss the blessing of seeing someone experience Jesus.
"(Jesus) saw a large crowd and he felt compassion for them because they
were like sheep without a shepherd....and he said to (his disciples), "You
give them something to eat!" " Mark 6:34,37
